The next version of ScribeFire for Google Chrome and Safari has been released; the equivalent version of ScribeFire Next is also available.

What’s new in this build?

  • “Blog This” option in the context menu (Firefox and Safari only) transfers the currently selected text, link, or image into the editor for easy blogging.
  • Tag autocompletion. Any tags you’ve used in your last 20-30 posts will be used for autocomplete.

  • Custom Fields (Wordpress only).  Custom fields have been fully implemented, complete with autocomplete for field keys.

  • Better Drupal and Movable Type support. Category selection works now, and publishing to a Movable Type blog has been cleaned up and more fully tested.
  • A bug causing linebreaks to be lost has been fixed.
  • If you’re running a Firefox 4.0 beta and you open ScribeFire in a tab, that tab will be an App tab.

What’s missing in this build?

  • Dynamic layout in Firefox. There were some major bugs in it, and I didn’t want to delay this release just for that one feature.  It will be back (and in all browsers) as soon as it’s working properly.

Google Chrome users, download ScribeFire 1.2.0.0 for Google Chrome here.

Safari users, download ScribeFire 1.2.0.0 for Safari here.

Firefox users, you can download ScribeFire Next 1.2.0.0 for Firefox here.

Please add a preview function like Filefox add-on ScribeFire.

Hey man, love the extension, just a few things would make it perfect. Firstly the blue help button in the top right corner, I know you thought it was a good idea… but it’s distracting, it shouldn’t be blue, everything else is black or grey or something and then there’s this big blue HELP, it is jarring.

Secondly the icon in the safari address bar isn’t anti-aliased so it’s got some pretty bad jaggies going on. If you’d like I’d be more than happy to whip up a fixed one for you, just send me an email and I’ll send you a tif or PNG to use :)

Updated the plugin on another computer and noticed that the ability to use pics directly from flickr are missing. I liked that feature.

No matter how I try to connect to a Drupal Blog (which accepts Wordpress
and Moveable Type API’s) I get this error message:
    Well, this is embarrassing…

Sigh… ScribeFire couldn’t get the information it needed about your blog.
Helpfully, your blog returned this message:

Server error. Requested method wp.getUsersBlogs not specified.

    Windows XP
    Firefox release: 3.6.8
    Scribefire next or 12.0.0.0

    ¿How to fix?

This is good to have but has a messy GUI as well as awkward editing for picture sizes. Why not hot corners to drag around as in the Firefox version!? The Safari version also does not handle certain HTML coding very well (blockquotes), causing formatting mistakes. I will stick with this on FIrefox.
