Nice advice, I have a blogspot blog and right now it’s very cluttered because it has 3 collumns. I’m gonna switch back to a 2 collumn template and remove unhelpful widgets, maybe that will improve my traffic.

Yes. The cleaner your site the more traffic you can get. I have realized it and but i am still moving towards improving more of my site. I am not still good at xml but i will try to develop a sense of eagerness to improve my skill.

I am still gonna finish the last 30 pages of my html book. All these points stated in this post was available at my html book but thanks for informing me again. I really like the theme of this site.

I ditched all the fancy sidebar doo-dads quite awhile back. These things were even annoying to me let alone my readers plus the fact that each one of these sidebar distractions such as social site widgets, animated affiliate badges etc, slowed down the site’s loading times which bothered me no end so out they went.

I finally found the right site appearance that actually appealed to me (simpleton that I am) with the “Blog.txt” theme which is about as plain as you can get and still be attractive and the increased site traffic shows that all this clean up along with the above theme really works. Keep it clean and they will come.

Nice post! You can also use a heatmap generating application like Crazy Egg to find out what people are ACTUALLY clicking on on your homepage and sidebar. I can’t resist trying out widgets but am pretty ruthless with getting rid of them if no-one’s clicking, and I try not to have too many.
