Filed under: Releases, ScribeFire -- Christopher Finke @ 08:30pmWe’re pleased to announce the release of ScribeFire 2.1. You can install it at Mozilla Add-ons.
The biggest change in this release is that ScribeFire now supports both Tumblr and MySpace blogs. Both can be added via the Account Wizard. Many bugs have also been fixed thanks to your great bug reports and feedback. Here’s a full list of the changes since version 2.0.2:

- Fix for “Blog This Page” not working with non-ASCII characters (issue #211)
- Various “can’t login”/”can’t add blog” issues fixed.
- Better error reporting when account setup fails.

Good job. guys my biggest complain is that there is no feature to manage picture margin/space once inserted. you should mimic what live writer has done which is perfect

Very nicely done! Many thanks for all your efforts on this, it really helped me when blogging myself and referencing material on the go!
Keep up the good work!

Blogger categories
The labels are not read as categories when editing an old post (old Blogger version).
Publish edited article
I am missing the ‘publish as edited’ button. I did not test the simple ‘publish to…’ possibility but in earlier versions this created a new article instead of updating the existing article.
Draft status on Blogger
I can’t see in the article list if an article has the status ‘draft’. Well, I am not sure if this is supported but would be an informative nice to have (for all platforms).
The ongoing feature request war…
I am always juggling with different editors (mostly PSPad under Windows 2000) to edit the source code. Wouldn’t it be nice to have ScribeFire hand over the source code to i.e. PSPad as a temporary .html file (type recognition), edit it in i.e. PSPad and when saving the tmp file or closing the editor + saving the tmp file hand it over back to Scribe Fire? (My FTP program is doing quite the same: download, edit, save back)
The reason for all this editor juggling ist the ease of dragging website content into ScribeFire but it is definitely easier (at the moment) to edit the source code in an editor with code highlightning and all the other bells and whistles.
Posting the result with ScribeFire is a breeze when the code is finalized.

I’m holding back on this version. Still on 1.4.8 until a few more releases because that has been rock solid for me in the past. Looking forward for more updates

I tried it because it looked very interesting for blogging but unfortunately it has a fatal flaw that makes it impossible for me to use. There is absolutely no way to upload images to blogger either by browsing or sending a URL. You browse, choose your image, click on the insert image button, choose API and then the uploading bar just spins its wheels and nothing whatsoever happens. Same thing for a URL. I am using FireFox 3 beta 5 on a Mac.

RE: 2.1
I like it, but one major drawback, it is considerably slower than before, and on a number of occasions it seems to be the culprit of my browser locking up.
