There have been a lot of questions about how to close ScribeFire while the close button is missing. Until the close button returns, you can close the editor by either pressing F8 or by clicking on the orange ScribeFire icon in the status bar. If your status bar isn’t visible, make it so by clicking on “Status bar” in Firefox’s “View menu.”

Thanks for posting this – I thought for a minute that I broke it.

It’s cool
I figured it out and thought that it was an excellent idea.

I’ve had scribefire installed for a while, but only started using it this week. When the new changes apppeared, I was intrigued – but then that close-button was not there. Actually, now that I know the F8 button will open/close it, I’m OK. But there certainly was a panic-moment!
Thanks guys/gals at SF, this is a great little program.

Thanks, the new update looks good. I just downloaded it last night and got a scare when I couldn´t close it, but I figured out the icon at the bottom! The new features look good, I like that we can now see previous posts for each blog.

Teehee. I’ve been using scribefire for ages and never even knew there was a ‘close’ button. Its just like me not to notice the most obvious things. I’ve always used the little orange icon.
But I love the new interface, and I have to say, scribefire is incredible for multiple blogs. I don’t know how I’d live without it.
Now if I could just teach my guest-blogger how to use it, we’ll be alright.

Could you make this post sticky for all the ppl to whom i recommended scribefire?
July 24th, 2007 at 9:51 am
It’s annoying, since once open you can not close the window.
July 24th, 2007 at 12:39 pm
Yeah must say I was frustrated when figuring out how to close the window wasn’t obvious, I went around clicking everything, which brought me here, and I figured out how to do it. But even still, you should make it a little more obvious, maybe a tooltip or something, on how to close it until the button is brought back. I mean you’d think it would be in the “about” or something similar, but nope.

I like “F8″
July 26th, 2007 at 10:47 am
Thank you for F8!! Brilliant.
July 26th, 2007 at 10:55 am
PS .. F8 allows me to use SF in full screen mode while typing, and flip back to underlying page easily.
August 13th, 2007 at 1:35 pm
OK, what does it do? I clicked through from a link on a blog. But, there’s nothing here that tells me what ScribeFire does. That ought to be the first thing I see above the fold on the home page.

I was frustrated when figuring out how to use it and close the window. I went around clicking everything, which brought me here, and I still can’t figured out how to do it. And there’s no section here that tells what ScribeFire does or what kind help you can get.

Ok, I was blogging this morning and before I published, I right-clicked on the status-tray icon to look for a way to turn off that phrase “published by ScribeFire” that shows up in each post…after I right clicked, I highlighted and clicked on “about” and now I can’t get out of the about page…how do I get back out of the about page and back to my post?
