Hm, I seem to be stopped at the starting line. I downloaded scribefire. I configured (or I thought I did)–gave it my blogname–saved. Wrote a test post.
Got a message saying sorry no go, and that I should look at the “web history page” (I think I quote exactly).
But then the console showed I /had/ posted successfully.
But I hadn’t.
I tried deleting and reentering my blog info. Same result.
Any advice?

I can’t figure out how to configure ScribeFire with the blogging site Blurty. Blurty was developed and completely based on LiveJournal, so it seems that if you can use LJ with this program, Blurty should also work. Any suggestions???

@ S Chattaway:
Do you have a Blogger blog? Furthermore, is your ’site feed’ through Feedburner? I, too, have had the same issue. I turned by Blogger blog to “Post Feed Redirect URL” to Feedburner, which then caused every scribefire post to exhibit the “error posting…#101″ message.
I turned off the feature in Blogger and everything works fine. I know this is not a solution, but at least it will allow you to use scribefire and Blogger together with some success rather than no success.
Hopefully, scribefire will be fixed (I think there’s something behind the scenes at scribefire causing this)…but I’m no programmer.

ScribeFire felt like a great solution, and I can use it with my WordPress blog, but it’s incompatible with Movable Type 4.1, the platform for my primary blog. I could blog, and the posts would appear on my blog, but they oddly were not added as entries, and they would sporadically unpublish and republish. Odd – it’s thought the posts existed somewhere in the system, but the system wasn’t aware of them.

I’m having the same problem as Krishna (comment #22). I’m accustomed to simply typing in the HTML with the tags I want rather than using a WYSIWYG editor. When I posted to a self-hosted Wordpress 2.5 blog using ScribeFire, it mangled all of the HTML entities I had included and mangled the links I included. Every ampersand was escaped twice! An entity — was posted as — and ampersands within the href attributes of links became &.
Also, how come the system for filing problem tickets is read-only? Is this the only way to report a problem — posting a comment in a blog? Or is that just a temporary problem that one can’t file problem tickets?
I like ScribeFire. Overall I think you guys have done a nice job with it, but there needs to be a better way to report issues. Also, I need a way to include HTML entities and links without them getting mangled.
Thanks.
April 28th, 2008 at 1:28 am
OK, as a follow-up to my previous post: it looks like the comments section here does not escape ampersands — unlike what ScribeFire does when posting. It would have been nice to have a preview feature.
That should have said that
—entities were posted to the blog as—and ampersands in the href attributes of links were posted as&.Thanks.

Please check out my blog entry from 5/14/08.http://hshawjr.edublogs.org/. I am having problems with images. I copy them into scribefire and in the editor they look fine. However, when I post them to the blog, all images are gone. These are primarily screenshots which are copied from Snip-it? Any solutions, because I really like the way ScribeFire works otherwise – exactly what I have been looking for.

Scribefire works perfectly for me on my regular blog and it also works prefectly on a blog I use for testing on the wordpress.com blogs.
My problem is that it refuses to connect to blogs that I have created using wordpressMu. I repeatedly get login failures and I am completely certain that I am entering the correct login name and pwd.
It has to be something I’m doing wrong because wordpress.com’s blogs are all on top of wordpressMu and I can Scribefire to blogs there without a hitch.
I double-checked the xmlrpc.php file and it does exist and contains (as far as I can tell) the correct code.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I am trying to build a community blogging site that will stand on the shoulders of Scribefire since the participants will be abel to easily keep their blogs. But I don’t want to to have to build them each an individual stand-alone blog so wordpressMu is essential.
Thanks for any help,
gwc

I am attracted to the potential utility of ScribeFire but . . . Typepad wasn’t listed as compatible. Then I noticed this post at planet sab:
http://critic.typepad.com/planetsab/2008/05/scribefire-with.html
So, he uses Typepad and Scribefire with no apparent problem. However, upon install — everything works perfectly save for clicking the publish button. It does post, no doubt about it, but the body of the post does not, on the title.
What’s the deal, Christopher Finke — or anyone else who might have a thought. Am I overlooking something obvious?
May 23rd, 2008 at 5:04 am
Well, I have a bit of success now. I can at least save them into Typepad as drafts now. The only difference was I booted down the computer and brought it back up. Now I need to determine why it won’t publish directly but I suspect that shouldn’t be a major problem.

Oh what I wouldn t give to have been a fly on the wall during this luncheon. Here is Heidi Montag having lunch with Meghan McCain, who is none other than the daughter of Republican Presidential Candidate John McCain. And yes, Heidi is boring as usual with her straight blonde locks that never change. Meghan of course does not have the most inspiring hairstyle, but when your dad is running for President of the United States, fading into the background is much more requisite than standing out amongst the crowd. Heidi dressed as conservative as even she could I suppose, and styled her hair in the same boring style with the flat iron and the side part. One would think that if you are somewhat of a starlet and are going to be seen with the daughter of a Presidential candidate you might make more of an effort. However, maybe Heidi doesn t even understand the whole Presidential thing who knows! Shake it up Heidi! Her hairstyle is getting as about as boring as her storyline.

Two unrelated questions.
1. I haven’t been able to get the post splitter feature to work with my TypePad posts. Is it supposed to and I am doing something wrong, or does it not work with TypePad?
2. Is there any documentation anywhere on how to implement ScribeFire with Joomla content?
Thanks.

I just installed ScribeFire in Firefox but cannot post to my blog. The following is part of the error message which is quite long:

Any ideas on how to get ScribeFire to work with blogger?
September 10th, 2008 at 6:02 pm
I used to use scribefire for long forum posts and thought it was great, sold the idea of using it to other forum regulars…the method was copy and paste because scribefire has far more features than most forum editors but the coding is compatible and I could have the forum or blog post to which I was responding in the next tab over from where I was writing. Then I downloaded the latest version that had the QuickAds garbage, and my content box screen went black (I use Pitch Dark for a FF theme) which was ok but the white text color wouldn’t stay white, but always reverted to black (black on black text color is sooo drab) and that forced me to notify Scribefire support but I haven’t heard from them for about 48 hours, so they can stick their little editor where it is Pitch Dark.

Hi Christopher,
Just wondering if you read my email above? I’m stuck (have a bug) and really need some help…
When I go into my Wordpress editor, everything looks good. All of my pages are there:
About
Contact
Current Headlines
Donation
False Teaching
Resources
Speaking Schedule
But when I go into my ScribFire editor and click on pages, this is what I see:
Untitled
Untitled
Untitled
Untitled
Untitled
Untitled
Untitled
This just happened yesterday. ScribeFire has been working great for me for over a year. I can’t click on any of them (Untitled), thus, I can’t edit any of my pages in my ScribeFire editor. I can post blogs and edit blogs just fine, just can’t get to my pages because they don’t appear.
Please help!!! I don’t know where else to go.
